◈ used to 와 would
* used to: '(과거에) ~하고는 했다' 의 뜻으로, 과거의 습관이나 상태를 나타내기도 합니다. 무조건 "~하고는 했다"로 단정지어 해석 해서는 안됩니다.
Ex) you used to embarrass me all the time. (과거의 습관)
There used to be a good well in the yard for his horse. (과거의 상태)
* 'be used to ~ing: ~하는데 익숙하다'
Ex) Good leaders are used to listening to their team members.
* 'be used to 동사원형: ~에 사용되다'
Ex) Nuclear energy is used to produce electricity.
* 'would': 과거에 반복 되었던 행동을 나타낼 때 쓰이고, 과거의 상태에는 쓰이지 않습니다.
Ex) He would often go home on the weekends to see his parents.
