헷갈리는 동사
1. 자동사와 타동사의 구분: lie - lay, sit - seat, rise - raise, wait - await
ex) The sun RISES in the east and sets in the west. (해는 동쪽에서 떠서 서쪽으로 진다)
They RAISED the sunken ship from the ocean. (그들은 바다에서 가라앉은 배를 들어 올렸다)
Suppose you are WAITING for the elevator in the building. (당신이 건물에서 엘리베이터를 기다리고 있다고 가정해 보자)
2. '~와~하다', '~에 ~하다'의 의미를 나타냈지만 with 나 to를 쓰지 않고 목적어를 취하는 타동사: marry, enter, reach, approach 등등
ex) Finally his grandfather MARRIED the prince's daughter. (마침내 그의 할아버지는 그 왕자의 딸과 결혼하셨다)
The firefighters ENTERED the smokey apartment building. (소방관들은 연기가 자욱한 아파트 건물로 들어갔다)
The batter REACHED first base because of a shortstop error. (타자는 유격수의 에러로 1루에 진출했다)
